~Personality~

Personality: Ray is the kind of guy that doesn't take anything from anyone. Even when he was little he was the leader of the pack so to speak. He's not a man to tangle with, nor is he one that you want to ignore either. He's a rather angry man, and doesn't stand for not being first in line to protect that which he loves. His loyalty is almost like his Achilles heel, because if someone gains his loyalty he will do all that he can to protect them.

He's a gruff individual, and he's not one that normally will be able to say what he's feeling very well. He's very awkward about it, and he's usually seen as a bit of player. He's been with a few different people, and both genders. He's more comfortable around guys, and prefers to go out with his male friends and party then have to take a woman out on a date. He does his best to make sure everyone that he's friends with, or is loyal to is happy. If they are not, he will go out of his way to make sure that the person is happy, or he will think that he failed in his life's goal.

His life's goal is to make everyone around him that he feels is his friend feel like they mean something at least one person. He is allied to the Gotei 13, and will follow orders to the t now that he's actually understood what being a Shinigami stands for. Perhaps he is blindly loyal, but he wouldn't be Raiden if he wasn't. But his loyalty to his Captain and Division comes first.

History: When Raiden was a human, he was part of the Japanese mafia and got the personality that he has now, of being gruff, and loyal. Those who backstabbed him where quickly and surely dealt with. He was about 26 years old when his entire family, including himself, was wiped out by another Yakuza family. Raiden was disappointed that he, after death and became a spirit, did not get the chance to seek revenge to torment the family, because a Shinigami appeared to the family shortly after their chains of fate appeared, and sent them off to the Soul Society.

There his family and him drifted apart, most of his family staying together in one place, while he wandered off to find SOMETHING to do. Overhearing about the Shinigami academy, he went and signed up to train. This was his calling, his something to do. And he was good at it....till he started to argue with those that were training him. He so many other Shinigami pass him by because he couldn't keep his mouth shut and kept failing because he did his own thing on the simulations. He needed to learn how to follow orders, and that was something he just wasn't quite ready to do.

about 70 years after he had gotten into the Academy he passed it, and was placed in the 11th Division, despite his skills with kido, which he didn't reveal he had to them. He got placed there because of his don't mess with me attitude, but he didn't feel like he belonged to the Division, because they were just all about fighting all the time, and that wasn't quite what Raiden was looking for. So he requested a transfer, and was granted it, and that's when he found himself in the third Division underneath Gin Ichirmaru and Kira Izuru. Now there was a pair of men that he knew instantly that he would lay his life down for. More Kira then Gin, but still it was there all the same.

Raiden was there when Gin defected, and all the events that transpired over the course of his time with the Third Division, but he couldn't do anything in his low state, even though during the time, he managed to train his way up to the seated officers positions in the Division. It was here that he learned his Zanpaktou's spirit's name, and it took on a new sealed appearance, that of two rings on his fingers that no matter how he tried, they would not come off of his hand unless he released his Zanpaktou. His sword skills became quite rusty, but his polearm skills gained in leaps and bounds. He trained with Ikkaku Madarame, because they're weapon was basically the same thing, and he finally achieved the 4th Seat of the Division.

When other Shinigami were disappearing, Raiden was moved up to the 3rd Division's third seat, and could spend the time working along side his now Captain Kira Izuru, and Kohana Hirikano. Times were good, and could only get better.....right?

~Zanpakuto Information~

Blade Name: Ryuu <-- Dragon
Sealed Blade appearance: when in it's sealed appearance, Ray's Zanpaktou takes the form of two rings on his hands. They can not be physically removed unless he releases his Zanpaktou. They are silver in appearance, and sit on his index and thumb fingers.

Release Phrase: Bellow Ryuu!!
Released blade appearance: when released Ryuu forms into a double bladed quarterstaff, that can break apart with a chain attaching the ends together. The rings on his fingers disappear until Ryuu is sealed again. The main form of the released zanpaktou is that of the complete quarterstaff.

Raiden's feet were carrying him to where he could be alone for at least an hour. He needed to think about things. His loyalty was something that he liked to review at times, just to make sure that it followed his own morals. There was no question in his mind that the loyalty that he held for his Captain was something that he would ever change. Even if Kira defected, Raiden would just defect with him, because to Raiden, Kira could do no wrong. In this regard, Raiden was a lot like Kira, but at the same time, Raiden could rather protect Kira from EVERYTHING in the world then be defeated by anything.

Raiden's sole purpose was to protect the alpha of his Division, the Captain. He was just a foot solider in comparison, and he was only a follower. But he was a follower with a mind, that could lead when he needed to. And he lead a fair amount, being the third Seat of the Third Division, and he did exactly what was required of him, sometimes more then required if requested from his Captain. Yeah he was a suck up, so what. It's what made Raiden, well....Raiden.....
